OUR COMPANY
The Jebba Power Station is a hydroelectric power plant of the Niger River in Nigeria. It has a power generating capacity of 578 MW enough to power over 364,000 homes, it is located sixty-four miles from the Kainji Dam and was officially commissioned on April 13, 1985. A total of six (6) turbines, each with a capacity of 96.4MW were installed. The turbines are fixed blade propeller type with rated operating head of 27.6metres and maximum flow per unit of 380m3/sec. Each turbine is coupled to a generator of 119MVA maximum continuous rating but 103.50MVA base load rating. Each generator is connected to a step up transformer of 119MVA rating.
All the six units are connected in the switch-yard through 330KV switch gears into two 330KV bus-bars with two outgoing lines to Jebba Transmission switch-yard. Jebba Reservoir depends solely on Kainji discharge during the black flood (December to March). During the white flood (Rainy season) some rivers downstream of Kainji discharge into Jebba Reservoir in addition to Kainji discharge. This and effective water management by the station allow the operation of Jebba units all the year round.
